I mounted it in one of my closets near my bedroom, and it makes for easy access to my pistol. The mounting plate can be mounted to a vertical surface or a horizontal surface. Mounting the actual box onto the plate is easy, and seems pretty secure. I do wish there were a few more interior screws mounting the box to the plate.
The mechanism works off of a code, my fingerprint, or the keys. The key access hole is on the bottom, so most intruders would not be able to find it, even if they found the key.
All in all, it was a great price for a well-made item.
